Platform Presentation Guidelines

GUIDELINES FOR PLATFORM PRESENTATION  
The specifications for Platform Presentation are as follows:
1)    
You should plan your presentation carefully and co-ordinate each phase of your lecture with your PowerPoint Presentation.

2)     Presentations must be given in English, the official language of the Symposium. No translation will be available.

3)    
The assigned time for each platform presentation is 10 minutes, followed by 5 minutes of discussion. Please be certain that the length of your oral presentation stays within the allotted time. Moderators will be instructed to terminate lectures which exceed their time allotment.

4)     The conference coordinator will have a computer in the lecture hall for use for your presentation, as well as a laser pointer, microphone and LCD projector.

5)     All presentations must be sent to Kris Street via email no later than July 26, 2010 so that she can have your presentation loaded onto the computer prior to your session.  Kris’ email is [email protected].

6)     Remember, the three rules of effective presentation are:
                      I.     Introduce your topic and inform your audience what you intend to speak about.
                    II.     Deliver your talk, including the methods, results and conclusions.
                   III.     Summarise for your audience the most important points of your lecture.

7)     Please plan to arrive in the session room at least 10 minutes before the start of the morning or afternoon session to meet the moderator(s).  

8)     Format and saving method for PowerPoint documents
·       Only MS-PowerPoint (*.ppt) presentations.
·        Please verify that the size of your slides is adapted to a projection.
·        Please save fonts used in your document
·        If your presentation uses digital video file (files .mpg or .avi), check that they are saved in the same directory that your file PowerPoint and adapt the link if necessary.   

9)     Media to use to provide your presentation.

If you wish to compress your files, use Winzip.
·       
We strongly recommend that you bring a spare copy of your presentation on CD-rom, or flash drive.
